The dance
For such an ungainly looking bird it is amazing how graceful they appear in flight. The twists and turns, gliding through the air apparently effortlessly on the way to a touchdown always amazes me. A recent visit to the Isenberg sandhill crane reserve highlighted their aerial abilities.
It’s almost like watching a dance, a ballet on the water and air as they stretch their wings and spring into the air as the early morning rays of the sun cast a golden glow on their show.
And just as quickly as their dance begins it ends as they settle into the surrounding fields for their morning meals. A few springs and struts across the landscape and their morning performance is finished until their evening arrival.
Every image is stunning! Than you for sharing the dance of these birds you follow every year.
