Birds of a different feather were on the menu this Thanksgiving Day as I made a sunrise trip with family to greet the holiday sunrise.
The winter rains and chilly temperatures have arrived at the wetlands and the morning found scattered cranes greeting the sunrise under mostly cloudy skies. A few geese and ducks were also on hand as they lifted off into the frigid morning air.
After most of the cranes had departed a small group wandered close to the fence line as they foraged in the grass. In my many years at the wetlands I don’t remember them coming so close on their morning adventures.
So it is time to give thanks to all the opportunities I have been given to see and be part of this experience. Here is to many more years to come.
